Ask

As part of my UX course, I set out to improve music discovery—specifically, how users find new music and how artists get discovered. I focused on enhancing the Spotify for Artists dashboard and microsite.

Challenge

Create a distinctive and cohesive visual identity that reflects abovo’s mission of representing the next generation of female and non-binary photographers and directors while ensuring consistency across various platforms.

Challenge

While most listeners find new music through playlists, many emerging artists struggle to get placed on them. This imbalance limits artist visibility and narrows discovery pathways for users.

Approach

I conducted interviews with both music listeners and independent artists to understand pain points on both sides. From these insights, I prototyped UX enhancements that made playlist placement more transparent and accessible for artists, while surfacing new music in more meaningful ways for listeners.

Impact

The final solution included a redesigned artist dashboard and an improved microsite experience aimed at bridging the gap between creators and curators. The project showcased my ability to translate research into practical design strategy. A clickable prototype and full presentation deck are available upon request.
